Portsmouth South MP Flick Drummond has welcomed plans to turn the Albert Road Post Office in the city into a new main branch.
The change is part of a major programme of modernisation taking place across the Post Office network using government money
The new refurbished branch will open longer and have the ability for customers to purchase car tax.
The new Post Office will be ready by 14th March but will have to close from the 1st March for the improvements to take place.
“This is already a very well run, friendly and helpful Post Office that I use often so expanded opening hours, a nicer environment and extra services at this branch is great news,” said Flick.
“I’m delighted that government money is being spent on making the Albert Road branch better as Post Offices are a vital community asset that must be preserved whenever possible.”
