The hedgehog is an extraordinary creature with a long and celebrated history in this country. Like many, I am concerned to ensure that its future is similarly bright.

24/09/2020 - I am pleased that the Government is committed to improving the welfare of cats and has a manifesto commitment to introduce compulsory microchipping of cats. Last year, Defra published a call for evidence on compulsory microchipping for cats, which attracted over 3,000 responses.

23/09/2020 - I understand that the concerns regarding the incorrect use of the Overseas Operations Bill. Victims of torture need to know that their allegations will be taken with the utmost seriousness and that soldiers are not above the law.
22/09/2020 - It is encouraging that air pollution has reduced significantly since 2010. Emissions of nitrogen oxides have fallen by 33% and are at their lowest level since records began, however, there is still more to do.
21/09/2020 - How the NHS values and retains its staff is critical and I was encouraged when a deal was agreed in 2018 ensuring a 6.5% pay rise for over one million NHS workers on Agenda for Change contracts over three years.
