MEON Valley's MP visited a non-profit community project that donates unwanted items to those in need.
Pre-Loved Treasures based in New Road, Swanmore, was started during lockdown in the spring.
Flick Drummond learned how it takes unwanted items donated by the community and asks for a financial donation from those who wish to take them.
However, if the recipient can’t afford anything, then the item is in turn ‘donated’ to them. Any money made is donated to other charities.
“This is a really lovely community-based project that is helping those in need by recycling unwanted items and I would like to thank Maria, Carl and their volunteer team for all they have done to be a real help and an inspiration to their community during these difficult times,” said Flick, who met with project leaders Maria Dores and Carl Channon, and volunteer Steve Powell last week.
Local county councillor Roger Huxstep was also there.
Flick added: "We have a tough winter ahead and for local people to be able to go to this shop, find good quality items and either donate a little or simply receive them will help many who are struggling in the run up to Christmas.
“If anyone has unwanted items for the project, then please get in touch with Pre-Loved Treasures on Facebook.”
At the time of the visit, the shop had on display wedding dresses, local school uniforms, and a wide variety of other clothes, toys and ornaments.
